How to play Bullseye
Begin the game by choosing your stake and pressing PLAY. Higher stakes hold the reward of bigger prizes. You are then shown the category selection board.
Category Board Round
The number of points needed to get to the prize board round is shown on the right. A crosshair circles the board. Use the AIM button in the bottom right of the game screen when the crosshair is within the category you would prefer to answer a question from.
Choose from the following categories;
A-Z
People
Places
Science
Nature
Showbiz
Pot Luck
Sport
Pop Music
Football
The crosshair will then run up and down within the chosen category section. Choose the number of points to play for by pressing THROW. If you do not hit a lit segment you will be given a question from a random category. Correctly answer the question that follows to be awarded the points. Points are only awarded for for answering questions on lit segments. Continue until your ‘Score Needed’ shown in the bottom right is within an amount that can be achieved by 3 throws on a normal dartboard. When you reach this level the dart board round begins. If your dart lands outside the board you must correctly answer a random question to proceed but will not earn any points.
Dart Board Round
In the dart board round you must achieve the score needed using 3 darts. The board has sections numbered 1-20. The red central area is a bullseye worth 50 points. The green central ring is worth 25 points. There are also double (outer) and treble (inner) rings that if hit double or treble the points in a given section. For instance hitting a treble within the 20-point section will gain you 60 points. The optimum section to hit is always shown by a target. You must also end the dart board round by throwing a double or a bullseye (which counts as double 25). For instance if your points needed is 10 you must throw a double 5 to proceed to the prize board round.
If your dart lands outside the outer (double) ring or hits the wire frame you get zero points for that throw so accuracy is key! If you fail to achieve the score needed you will have to correctly answer a random question in order to earn another 3 throws. If you exceed the points needed or get to a position where you cannot finish on a double (e.g. 1 point left) this is a ‘bust’ and the points amount needed previously is restored and you must correctly answer another question to try again.
Prize Board Round
If you achieve the points needed in the dart board round (and finish on a double or bullseye) you will enter the prize board round. Here you are playing for cash prizes. The board is divided into red and black sections and you have 9 darts to throw. Each numbered red section has a cash prize associated with it as indicated to the right of the board. Only one action is required, throw the dart when a red section is highlighted.
Hitting a red section pays the corresponding prize. You can collect your winnings and end the game or continue to play on for further prizes. If you hit a black section or a red section that you have hit previously you will not earn a further prize and will be required to correctly answer a question to continue.
Prizes accumulate and the game automatically ends after you have thrown all 9 darts.
Penalties
An incorrectly answered question will result in “Game Over” unless you have a “Try Again” available (shown in the bottom right of the game screen). Try again will let you choose another answer to the question.
Time Limit
You must take care to answer the questions within the time limit in the bottom left of the game window. If you fail to answer on time the game is over. If you fail to aim or throw a dart within the time limit the dart will be thrown randomly.
Bullseye Bonus
There are 3 bonus types within the game that can be used to help you when faced with a question;
Pass: The current question is replaced with a substitute.
Reveal Answer: The question is answered correctly for you.
Try again: Lets you try again if you have answered incorrectly.
The game starts with 1 of each bonus type available. You can gain additional bonuses by completing the Bullseye name above the boards. Every time you hit a bullseye on the category, dart or prize board a letter in the name will light up. When all the letters are lit one of the 3 bonus features is randomly awarded. Up to 3 of each can be held at any time.
Rolling Jackpot
Occasionally a ‘Bully’ symbol will appear on the boards. If you hit these they contribute towards winning the rolling jackpot. This is a bonus prize that is awarded if you collect the number of symbols indicated in the top left of the game screen. If gained from the category screen, or from a black section, or a previously hit red section on the prize board you will be required to answer a question to proceed. If you win the rolling jackpot, you can still continue to play normally for further prizes. The rolling jackpot is never gambled, if won this is yours no matter what happens later in the game. The jackpot amount is shown to the left of the game screen.
Collecting
You can collect your current winnings in the prize board round by pressing COLLECT. When you win a prize you have the option to collect or continue. If you continue then you gamble your current normal winnings against potential bigger prizes further in the game. On pressing collect, winnings will automatically be added to your account. The game ends under the following conditions;
- When you have thrown all 9 darts in the prize board round. Any winnings are automatically added to your account.
- Collect any winnings.
- Do not answer a question within the time limit. Normal winnings are lost.
- Answer a question incorrectly when you have no try agains remaining. Normal winnings are lost.
‘Normal Winnings’ means prizes won on the prize board. The rolling jackpot does not count as a normal prize. If won this can never be lost and is automatically added to your account when the game ends.
Real Play/Demo Play
Demo play is designed to easily introduce you to the various features of the game. Therefore the difficulty of winning both jackpot and normal prizes may vary between demo and real play.
