About music trivia

Music trivia

Music Mayhem continues to be one of the most successful games on our website, which is not surprising given that most people claim to have some music knowledge. Music trivia can take many forms. On BrainDash we currently focus on a simple question and answer format which tests your knowledge on artists, groups and hits. Soon we will launch to launch a music quiz which plays the intro of a song and it's up to you to figure out which hit song we are playing.

Some other examples of well known music quiz formats are:

PopMaster

One of the obvious places you can find a music trivia quiz is on the radio. In the UK one of the longest running radio music quizes is the BBC Radio 2's PopMaster, which forms part of the Ken Bruce Radio 2 show and can be heard every morning at around 10:30. 2 Contestants take turns to answer 10 questions and the winner has a chance to play “3 in 10”, where they should try to name 3 well known hits from a randomly selected artist.

Don't forget the lyrics

In 2007, Fox (an American broadcaster) launched a new type of game format called “Don't forget the lyrics” where contestants can win prizes by completing the lyrics of a well known song which is played to them. This format was recently introduced in the UK by SKY and we understand that an on-line version of Don't forget the Lyrics will be launched on the Sky website soon.

Music quizzes and trivia games cover all sorts of music so it doesn't matter if you like Barbara Streisand, hard rock or Beethoven - there will always be a place where you can compete against others to discover who really is the expert.
